We wish to express our extreme gratitude and appreciation to our faculty advisor, Mr. Thomas Donahue, who has devoted many hours to the success of the 1965 Annual. |

We, the Class of 1965, fondly and respectfully dedicate our yearbook to Mr. William L. Lawson, whose patience and helpfulness in giving both time and effort unstintingly to the students and to our alma mater, has so moved us that our academic and athletic standards have never been higher.
May 12, 1965
Of the many attitudes or dispositions that are encouraged in secondary school
education, the
dedication
toward a job well done and the spirit of cheerful cooperation stand high on the
list. When a class is able to produce eleven ( 11) perfect scores of 800 in
College Board competition on a national level, and when that class can boast of
four ( 4) National Merit finalists with perfect scores, and when that class also
can produce state champions in swimming, league champions in baseball, and
runners-up in football and basketball, and when that class is able to earn for
the High School superior citations in vocal and instrumental music competition
among the schools of Western Massachusetts, then the members of that class can
stand back and raise their heads proudly to salute the purple banner of Holyoke
High School now waving at new heights. All the more remarkable is this
achievement of the Class of '65 when one realized that you were meeting the
challenge of transition from an old building to a new one in the process of
construction and this at the start of a new century of high school education in
the City of Holyoke. We commend you for your splendid record. We are humbly
grateful to you for making the transition a smooth and swift victory. Your
records of achievement will serve as an inspiring challenge in the years to
come. As you face the stern realities of life, may you ever keep smiling, keep
up your undaunted courage and, above all, keep close to God.

Sincerely and cordially yours, |
